The Final Product
What I created for the final product was a self-serve kiosk, similar to what you would see in McDonald's locations, that has a warm and friendly aesthetic. I wanted the system to feel as if you're walking into a mom and pop coffee shop; with the expectation that you're going to leave with a quality service and a memorable experience.
Context
A coffee shop is looking for a UX/UI designer to create an ordering system for them that captures the essence of what their coffee shop is about. The client wants a product that will allow for seamless integration into their brand and allow for easy use for their customers.

Goals/Objectives
The objectives that I had for this project was to make a unique design that was easy to use, visually pleasing, and aligns with the companies ideals. The project was very open and I was given full creative control for the aesthetics and functionality of the system.
Research
For my research, I started by curating my moodboards; one was for the ordering interface and one being for the actual shop. The shop was fictitious and we were to decide what the aesthetics are, with this we would create a moodboard to tie our interface into our shop.
Research cont.
To brainstorm ideas for my interface, I conducted a competitive analysis to see what options for a user interface exist. When researching, I found out how the different touchscreen interfaces work throughout different areas in the food industry.
Along with my competitive analysis, I gathered four willing individuals to interview; I asked questions that covered the ideal environment they expect in coffee shops, what they are looking for in these shops, and if they were satisfied or unsatisfied with their experiences. These interviews really helped me dial in on what I should be focusing on for the interface.

Using the notes I had from my interviews, I created a handful of personas and empathy maps to capture the essence of what people who frequent coffee shops want from the experience.
With the information that had been gathered to this point, I drew out my wireframes for what I wanted the interface to be and how it would function.

Lastly, I had three people that I know test out my prototype and the information I got was invaluable to fine tuning the project.

Final
This project was my first real attempt at designing an interface that was expected to be used by a large audience. The amount of research that goes into working on projects like this was baffling to me, but at the end I prevailed. Overall, I'm happy with the results of the final prototype and it received good praise amongst my peers.
